Our Story

RetroTalent was founded in 2005 by Sarah Johnson, a veteran recruiter with over 15 years of experience in talent acquisition. After working with several major recruitment firms, Sarah recognized a fundamental disconnect in the industry – recruitment had become too transactional, focusing on filling positions quickly rather than finding the right match for both employers and candidates.

Starting with just three team members in a small office in New York City, RetroTalent set out to revolutionize the recruitment process by placing equal emphasis on candidate experience and client satisfaction. Our unique approach quickly gained traction, and within three years, we expanded to offices in Chicago and San Francisco.

The 2008 economic downturn proved to be a pivotal moment for RetroTalent. While many recruitment agencies struggled, our focus on building genuine relationships with both clients and candidates allowed us to not only weather the storm but emerge stronger. During this period, we developed our signature "Full-Circle Recruitment" methodology, which has become the cornerstone of our success.

By 2015, RetroTalent had established itself as a leader in specialized recruitment, with dedicated teams for technology, healthcare, finance, and creative industries.
